Technology Projects – Start at the End and Know Your Why

Project Management

It could be an ERP selection project, a new website or a new phone system, one of our older technologies that has evolved to video conferencing, virtual collaboration and a lot more. It is all technology. No matter the project or size of the project, before you start, know your expected outcomes and know your “why.” To quote Simon Sinek,

Average companies give their people something to work on. In contrast, the most innovative organizations give their people something to work toward.

In any project there are many decisions, large and small. If there is not a common understanding of the outcomes, there cannot be a clear methodology working through the project tasks. There are many paths to take and the roadways along the way are directed by the key players on the project. Only with common project goals can we have common expectations and successful outcomes. This team effort will lead to collective momentum towards the finish line. It is not a race, and it is not always linear, but it is has a life. It should not have a life of its own.

Know your why, be intentional with your project choices and the purpose of the people selected to achieve your outcomes.
